Laughing Man Procedure

Missing update - Rebuilding DSG

Whups! I had totally forgot to add the the rebuilding of the DSG in the fall. As there was growing need for more space, which is rather limited, we decided to reorganize everything.

Widric is the king of organization, so I give the props for him :) I was merely there in a role of an assistant. :D

The whole project took us about a week. Full working days probably 2 or 3. It's including cleaning most of the old shit, the shit we will ever never need, away and carrying stuff in/out, modifying the shelfs to fit and sit straight (the floor is not straight and the shelfs needed to be cut in order to be used).

Here you can get the picture of the amount of the stuff we have in there :D Note, the CR-X is also stuffed XD


Plus two cars, as one can easily see in the final picture :)

Here it is "ready", before organizing all the shelves and this and that. Plus the things we had not done at that point. plus this and that :D

More GC8 upgrades!

Widric has been doing massive upgrades for his GC8, which btw is real JDM STI.

It has had bad issues with running on boost, and lately the running issues has gone so bad, that it barely idles well. It spends fuel and soaks oil with it. Reasoning was, that MAF is possibly causing this, so it was decided to be replaced. And no, we shall not settle with low capacity OEM MAF, we use one from Z32 Nissan! :D

So Z32 MAF was ordered from JDM Factory, but unfortunately the Japs forgot to attach the connector to the package. And this is where the interesting part starts ^_^

We disassembled the old MAF, suspected to be broken, and looked how it was built. And what did we discover - it is disassembleable :D


Plus it happens to be same size as the new one.


Wihii! Disassembling the new one too, we noticed that the basic body of the MAF electronics is same as well, so it may be possible tho change the connector in the MAF,


and that is exactly what we did :D

And since the MAF is totally different in electrical values (Air flow vs. Voltage), the ECU must be fooled to work with it. We decided to use this GC8 as a test ground for AEM F/IC (Fuel/Ignition Controller), from JDM Factory of course :) The F/IC is cheap way to tune the fuel and ignition maps to your tune level. Some serious wiring is only needed, but that has never been a problem to us. As Widric had all the wiring diagrams ready, and mad electrical skillz were sizzling with energy, he did the installations in record time :D



Unfortunately we didn't have The AEM UEGO wide band lambda installed on the GC8, so we did not start tuning yet... Maybe tomorrow :)

TA Civic and new parts

Widric is showing his brand new FET Quick Release Spacer (2nd gen) which should be on the TA Civic, but someone misread the torque specs for the boss kit.

TA Civic is enjoying the garage life. New Takata belts for passenger and a new Nardi steering wheel (inside the car).

GC8 upgrades!

Master of Electro-nicks, aka Widric, has been enjoying sun at the DSG head quarters :) I got some happy.jpg's from him. Obviously his GC8 now brakes better than it did.


Some serious Street Performance Dixcels. New disks and M-Type (less dusty and better gripping) brake pads. Through JDM Factory of course :)

Brakes

Fuck! How hard it is to find reliable info about the slots? I've found a lot of interesting stuff to read regarding brakes, such as breaking in etc. But nothing of the slots!

But then again, I remember one conversations I had with Stoptech some time ago. It was about the warmth of brakes regarding of racing use of Stoptech Aerorotors. The monsieur at Stopetech told me, that if there are any problems with heating up those Aerorotors, they could be switched from left to right. The vanes inside them are designed to flow very efficiently and by turning it inside out, the air flow is decreased thus making the disk heat up faster and cooling down less. This could be good idea when the velocity isn't going too high, thus making the braking to produce less heat (the head production in proportional to the square of velocity).

Anyway, if it doesn't matter which way the vanes are, I think this way should push the brake dust and while under the pad the gas too away from the vanes thus being better way to do it. This is just my thought, I shall continue to search for better knowledge.

EK got some brakes

Yeah. Some brakes has been installed.

Pads and disks are from Dixcel since we wanted to go with OEM measures, but better materials. Fronts are FS disks and R01 pads. Rears areHS disks and RN pads (better grip, but will not lock. Really interesting compaund)



Cleaning, greasing etc has been done in the procedure.

I need to read more about those slots. My reasoning told me they would be better this way, but in Stoptech disks box we found instructions that told otherwise. Why, I do not know. When I do, I most certainly write a note about it.

Seasons greetings

Widric is celebrating the second coming of Je... The Christmas.

Maladar sent me some pictures from the Christmas party. The whole garage is full of boxes, christmas tree is bent against roof and there is a snowman in front of the doors.
