TA EK4 in progres.

I am removing gearbox plus checking joints & places. Widric is installing rear diffuser. Yup, we take aerodynamics seriously.

Quiet? Hardly!

Even though there have not been updates, we have been very active. Or me, Maladar, at least ^_^ Currently I am working on Ghost Eleven and Widric's GC8 in our beloved DSG.

I try to make some updates soon. Maybe even tonight! Lots of picture material is available, but I think the Ghost Eleven material will end up into its own blog. Which is really nice btw.

We bought a grill. And beer. And more beer, because we were thirsty :D We should buy even more beer, since lately I have been really thirsty. *wink wink* ;D

What else... Yeah! We made some massive tool upgrades. Here is a pic of C-Rock in a shopping spree.

And we have had a visitor too :) Genuine DC2 :o

More updates soon. Or later... Depends on how I, or the others have inspiration ;D

Perfect Day

If it wasn't such a failure as a song, I'd play the "such a perfect day" right here and right now.

Lou Reed - Perfect Day

Right now, I'm ordering more hours to perfect days. This kind of days are rare and should be remembered long :)

pd

Huhh... It's been really nice :)

We can has had a guest. Nice Civic which had some umm... un-professional installation errors :D Well we fixed them, and customized one place which needed some creativety found from DSG :)

Pics latter, stay tune

Purrfect Spring Day

If it wasn't such a failure as a song, I'd play the "such a perfect day" right here and right now.

Sun is shining and weather is really sweet by all means :) Me and C-Rock are heading for the DSG, after Mr. C manages to put on some more decent than plain towel :D

Waitin' for ya dude...! Let's move.

Animal of the month

I saw a squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) behind the garage!

I'm gonna be the next David Attenborough :)

Nardi Day!

Yay and sorry Widric, I just couldn't halp my self ^_^

I was inspired by C-Rocks working on his Ghost Eleven, so I decided to make this the "NARDI DAY!". Meaning, I changed the steering wheel to the EK. I used the non-SRS-version's steering hub, so there is no horn. Reason is simple. The horn grounding goes through the SRS unit that had to be removed, so there is not connecting surface anymore. Who uses horn anyway...! ;D

As I was working on the project I removed the panel below the steering wheel and all kinds of electrical thingies was exposed to my eyes. One thing, besides the huge mess, caught my eye. Relay saying DAYLIGHT.

Hmmm... that is the annoying relay in Finnish country package that makes the lights stay on even though the light switch is turned off... This is the part where I must apology Widric, I didn't call him to get authorization for the removal, I was kinda carried away with my agony against Finnish regulations which I mostly do not like :D

Here you can see the relay and the white connectors behind the light switch. The onw with black wires is replacing the connector with red/white/blue wires. Easy plug and play operation.

Up there is single ground cable which is part of the daylight unit. Take it away! Bloody hell! It didn't even have proper Honda bolt!!! :D

This was a bit more trickier operation. The green connector has one black wire that does not belong there. It's part of that daylight stuff and should be removed with it. So I removed it.

Right next to the green connector is hanging small grey connector. It is also part of the daylight thing. Without schematics, I wasn't able to tell what is that wire, but it is extra when the daylight unit is disabled. So I secured it to the harness.

So now, the lights works like they are supposed to. They are on when the switch is on, and off when the switch is off. Simple!

And about the steering wheel. mmm... The Nardi is fabulous! The installation was really straight forward stuff. Nothing special here. I removed enough stuff so I was able to bolt on the new hub.

Great!

Laughing Man Procedure

It's 04:13 in the morning and I can't sleep

Missing update - Rebuilding DSG

Whups! I had totally forgot to add the the rebuilding of the DSG in the fall. As there was growing need for more space, which is rather limited, we decided to reorganize everything.

Widric is the king of organization, so I give the props for him :) I was merely there in a role of an assistant. :D

The whole project took us about a week. Full working days probably 2 or 3. It's including cleaning most of the old shit, the shit we will ever never need, away and carrying stuff in/out, modifying the shelfs to fit and sit straight (the floor is not straight and the shelfs needed to be cut in order to be used).

Here you can get the picture of the amount of the stuff we have in there :D Note, the CR-X is also stuffed XD

Plus two cars, as one can easily see in the final picture :)

Here it is "ready", before organizing all the shelves and this and that. Plus the things we had not done at that point. plus this and that :D

More GC8 upgrades!

Widric has been doing massive upgrades for his GC8, which btw is real JDM STI.

It has had bad issues with running on boost, and lately the running issues has gone so bad, that it barely idles well. It spends fuel and soaks oil with it. Reasoning was, that MAF is possibly causing this, so it was decided to be replaced. And no, we shall not settle with low capacity OEM MAF, we use one from Z32 Nissan! :D

So Z32 MAF was ordered from JDM Factory, but unfortunately the Japs forgot to attach the connector to the package. And this is where the interesting part starts ^_^

We disassembled the old MAF, suspected to be broken, and looked how it was built. And what did we discover - it is disassembleable :D

Plus it happens to be same size as the new one.

Wihii! Disassembling the new one too, we noticed that the basic body of the MAF electronics is same as well, so it may be possible tho change the connector in the MAF,

and that is exactly what we did :D

_Smooooooth_

And since the MAF is totally different in electrical values (Air flow vs. Voltage), the ECU must be fooled to work with it. We decided to use this GC8 as a test ground for AEM F/IC (Fuel/Ignition Controller), from JDM Factory of course :) The F/IC is cheap way to tune the fuel and ignition maps to your tune level. Some serious wiring is only needed, but that has never been a problem to us. As Widric had all the wiring diagrams ready, and mad electrical skillz were sizzling with energy, he did the installations in record time :D

Unfortunately we didn't have The AEM UEGO wide band lambda installed on the GC8, so we did not start tuning yet... Maybe tomorrow :)
