First Track Appearance of the EK

Finally it's done! Long long waiting has ended and the EK has been tested at the Finnish race track, Alastaro Circuit. Lovely track btw :)

Car was easy to handle, lovely to drive (if you wanna call that racing "driving"). It was faster than many other vehicle on the track, even though the driver, I, had never been driving on that track before. Few issues came up while racing and after long discussion in the phone I have agreed with Widric that some parts must be ordered )some of them have been waiting on the list for a long long time). Yup, never ending project :D

The most annoying problem was with the brakes. The pedal was totally soft. I thought it was soft even after the new brake lines were installed, but sense there was too much hassle I totally forgot that issue before it was too late. We must try to leak the brakes again and hope there was a mysterious bubble hiding somewhere while the leak was done last time. Hmm... now that I'm thinking of it... We've leaked the brakes many times and the softness has never gone away. Fluid doesn't leak out, air doesn't come out... Maybe we must work with the ABS unit next if the next leaking wont bring any solution. Need to ask Beldin to loan Honda tester to test the ABS systems again (already made the test with the tester during the week - test passed, all functions as they should).

Coils were adjusted a bit on the track. The track is a bit bumpy and I think it went wrong direction. First the front end was set to 6/15 and rear 3/15 (15/15 as the softest position and 0/15 the hardest) after the adjustments FR 3/15 RR 2/15. I prefer softer, at least in dampening.

We also found some mysterious electrical problem. It wasn't all that serious, but I thought to stop in the first session as I noticed AEM UEGO to go out and speed meter to go mad with some nasty smell in the cabin. I guessed the smell was only brakes, but one should never take too many risks. The problem has been tracked to be most probably grounding problem. I'll keep the blog updated once it's been solved.

LSD. We must get LSD. There is no way we can continue for long time with out it. Even though the vehicle runs out of a corner like a arrow from a bow, it could do it much much faster :) Also it will ease the wheel spin that has increased with the super light Rays Engineering Volk TE37 wheels. One cannot do anything more than just love them <3 Back to serious business --> LSD will be Kaaz. 1.5way is good 2way is more aggressive. Must read a bit and make some serious consideration on this.

Our lovely friends from Ă…land promised to arrange tires for us from Sweden, meaning that the traction problems will between steering wheel and seat for next few races. Yup, R888 will grip in totally different level than the basic street tire, Toyo Proxes T1R. Thanks a lot Mange :D

I wasn't pleased with the coils the car has, but then again I had so much issues with the braking, that it broke my concentration. After the brakes has been fixed and chassis been tuned I shall give more comment on the coils.

The exhaust note was lovely, but I believe we are gonna have some issues to enter some of the Finnish tracks.

Steering wheel needs to be replaced for two reasons. First it doesn't feel good. Second It is a safety issue with the SRS System in it. I just am not interested in witnessing broken nose or neck of a guy who has strapped one self to the Bride seat with Takata harness. s

One funny thing must be mentioned. We had issues with the OEM lambda sensor. Heater circuit broken, told the error code to us. So we installed the AEM EMS into EK4. I put in the basic calibration that basically is good enough for starting the engine, if you are lucky, and starting the tuning. Well... The engine started after few checkins and adjustments like with OEM ECU but was running close to 10 in AFR. All guys were crying, not from joy, not from sadness, but from unburned gasses. That moment felt like:"Fuck, we're never gonna make it to the races in time...!". But we did. Some quick fine tuning and of we went. On the trip I monitored the AFR readings and tested the vehicle in most of the driving conditions I usually use. I threw the lap top into Vili's arms and told him what to do. The map ended up to be pretty nice as we noticed on the track. :D But this was only hte beginning - the real tuning will start from here!

C-Rock shall add some pics and thoughts. Won't you C-Rock? And please do write down all the happy and unhappy moment of our trip. We shall laugh for them after some time :)
